DESCRIPTION:A Great Day in Harlem: The Story and Sounds Behind the Most Famous Photo in the History of Jazz! \n\n\n\n\nFAB Reel Connections: Community Partner – Gold Coast Jazz \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nDetails FLIFF and Gold Coast Jazz celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month with a screening of the monumental documentary “A Great Day in Harlem”.  \n \nA Great Day in Harlem is an hour-long documentary film that brings to life a remarkable moment in the history of jazz as on a hot summer day in New York City\, 1958\, in which dozens of America’s jazz legends unexpectedly gathered together for a photograph\, created by Art Kane\, that would become emblematic of the golden age of jazz. By illuminating this single\, historic event\, A GREAT DAY IN HARLEM is a window to an unprecedented era in music history which addresses broader issues of creativity and community in our own time. \nSpecial Guest: Nicole Yarling\nNicole Yarling\, Jazz Vocalist.  Since the 1980’s\, Nicole has been a part of South Florida’s musical scene. Her extensive education ranges from a BA in Music from Baruch College\, to a Masters in Music Education from Columbia University\, as well as private training in composition\, arranging\, voice and violin. A professional performer\, arranger and composer\, Nicole is a music educator and is on the faculty of the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music.
