SUMMARY:South Florida Symphony Orchestra’s Handel’s Messiah and Holiday Pops at The Parker
DESCRIPTION:South Florida Symphony Orchestra’s Handel’s Messiah and Holiday Pops at The Parker \n\n\n\n\n\nSouth Florida Symphony Orchestra (SFSO)\, led by Sebrina María Alfonso\, returns to illuminate and inspire joy this holiday season with its beloved performances of Handel’s glorious Messiah (Part 1\, the Christmas portion) culminating in the iconic “Hallelujah” chorus\, and modern Holiday Pops favorites on December 6\, at 7:30 p.m.\, at The Parker in Fort Lauderdale. SFSO will be joined by vocal soloists Katherine Henly (soprano)\, Maggie Reneé (mezzo-soprano)\, Christopher W. Waite (tenor)\, Neil Nelson (bass-baritone) and the South Florida Symphony Chorus. Enjoy a pre-concert chat with Dr. Alan Mason 30 minutes before the concerts\, featuring in-depth conversation and insights about the works and composer. \n\n\nSFSO’s 2025 holiday program will open with a selection of Holiday Pops festive favorites including “You’re a Mean One\, Mr. Grinch\,” “The Prayer” (as made popular by Andrea Bocelli)\, “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” (as made popular by Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani)\, “Christmas Canon” (made popular by Trans-Siberian Orchestra) and “Festive Sounds of Hanukkah.” Audiences are also invited to sing along to a special medley of cherished classics – “Jingle\, Bells\,” “Silent Night\,” “Joy to the World” and more. \nPer tradition\, SFSO will close the joyous evening with Part I of Handel’s Messiah culminating with the iconic “Hallelujah” chorus as sung by the South Florida Symphony Chorus\, made-up of seasoned chorale singers and community talent\, directed by Dr. Giselle Elgarresta Rios. Rios and Maestra Alfonso collaborated to create the South Florida Symphony Chorus in 2019\, which made its debut at the Beethoven 250th celebration in February of 2020. \nSFSO’s 28th season of “Juxtapositions” explores beauty in contrasts\, where the bold and the sublime intersect\, and timeless masterpieces share the stage with today’s most compelling and celebrated musical voices. From Mozart’svivacious “Haffner” symphony to the sun-drenched skies of Mendelssohn’s “Italian” and the sweeping emotion of Sibelius’ Violin Concerto — performances burst with color and power. Beethoven’s luminous Piano Concerto No. 4 and Dvořák’s Bohemian Eighth deepen the journey\, while Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio espagnol whirls with Spanish flair. SFSO is also proud to present upcoming orchestra firsts by GRAMMY-nominated composers\, including the Florida premiere of Had to Be by Haitian-American Nathalie Joachim\, featuring breakout cellist Seth Parker Woods\, and Carlos Simon’s Four Black American Dances. \nFrom sold-out masterworks performances to accompanying today’s musicians such as Natalie Merchant and performing modern musical scores including Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas and Back to the Future\, featuring the iconic films screened live with audio and musical accompaniment\, South Florida’s largest symphonic orchestra is continuing its journey of excellence inspiring audiences of all ages and musical genres. Back by popular demand\, SFSO will accompany ARRIVAL from Sweden: The Music of ABBA on Feb. 26 at the Broward Center. \nTickets for Handel’s Messiah are on sale now beginning at $35. SUMMARY:Art Gallery 21 presents Mash Ups with Francie Bishop Good
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Art Gallery 21\, Incorporated at Art Gallery 21 at the Island City Cultural Center\, Wilton Manors FL \nArt Gallery 21 is pleased to present “Mash Ups\,” a striking new body of work by Francie Bishop Good\, deepening her ongoing exploration of memory\, emotional vulnerability\, and the porous boundary between observation and imagination. Drawing has long been Bishop Good’s most instinctive medium\, an anchor since childhood. \nIn this series\, she begins with traditional graphite sketches\, digitally dismantling and reassembling them. Through layered textures\, fields of color\, and unexpected juxtapositions\, the work transforms into a dreamlike terrain where figures flicker between presence and disappearance. Rooted in observation yet guided by intuition\, Bishop Good embraces accidents\, disruptions\, and ambiguity\, creating images that hover between structure and fragmentation\, intimacy and abstraction. \nMash Ups invites viewers into a space where emotion resists containment\, memory is refracted\, and the self remains fluid—unfixed and evolving. \nWhen: \n\nDec 5\, 2025 at 5:00pm – 7:00pm (Fri)\nDec 6\, 2025 at 5:00pm – 7:00pm (Sat)\nDec 12\, 2025 at 5:00pm – 7:00pm (Fri)\nDec 13\, 2025 at 10:30am – 12:00pm (Sat)\n\nWhere: Art Gallery 21 at the Island City Cultural Center\n600 NE 21 Court\,  Wilton Manors\, FL 33305 \nLearn More About FAB Founder\, Francie Bishop Good

SUMMARY:The Girl Choir of South Florida: Spring Concert: I Give You A Song
DESCRIPTION:For two decades\, the Girl Choir of South Florida has been a place where voices unite to create something greater than the sum of their parts. Join us for I Give You A Song\, our 20th-anniversary spring concert\, as we celebrate the music\, memories\, and friendships that define our choir. \nThis special program features a stunning variety of music—spanning genres\, cultures\, and languages\, from Greek and Finnish melodies to songs in Bemba and English—selected with input from alumni and current singers. \nAt the heart of the program is the world premiere of a newly commissioned piece by composer Mariana Romero Serra\, with lyrics by alumna Lillian Rogers\, written to honor the transformative experience of being in the choir. As always\, we will close with I Give You A Song\, the piece that has ended every spring concert for 20 years\, a cherished tradition uniting past and present. \nCome celebrate our history\, our community\, and the extraordinary young women who have brought their voices to the Girl Choir of South Florida. This will be an unforgettable evening of song\, legacy\, and joy. \nRegister Here \n

SUMMARY:Art and Culture Center - Hollywood - THE BIG BANG: ARTURO E. MOSQUERA
DESCRIPTION:On view: April 5-June 1 \nRELATED PROGRAMMING \n\nMay 17: Guided Tour of the exhibition in partnership with Hollywood Artwalk\n\n\nJune 1: Final day exhibition tour including a guided Mindfulness Practice\n\nVibrant colors\, confident brushstrokes\, and rhythmic compositions embody the paintings of Arturo E. Mosquera. When looking at the work\, the texture of the paint and the saturation of the pigment come together to form a symphony of sounds in the mind of observer. Whether drawing inspiration from the natural world as in his Pandemic Landscape Series and The Grand Teton National Park Series\, from Michealangelo’s Sistine Chapel\, from Comic Books\, or from other artists that he admired\, Mosquera created a visual language that is uniquely his own. This exhibition features over 50 paintings by Mosquera\, and also includes some of the artists’ drawings\, sketchbooks and works featured in the Mosquera Collection. \nArturo E. Mosquera (1982 – 2022) Born in Memphis\, Tennessee\, lived/ worked in Miami\, FL. He attended Manchester College\, Connecticut\, where he concentrated in printmaking. Mosquera became interested in graffiti in his teens and his work\, attached to this mode of expression\, touches on dreams\, death\, love\, beauty\, friendship\, and the imagination.
