Grant Awards $15,000 – $12,000

Art and Culture Center of Hollywood Alder Guerrier Mixed-Media Project $15,000 Haitian-born, Miami based contemporary artist Adler Guerrier will create a new site specific exhibition exploring life in Hollywood and Broward County. Miami City Ballet Program III: The Neighborhood Ballroom $15,000 Edward Villella’s The Neighborhood Ballroom, which includes four acts, each focusing on a different style of dance made popular during various eras of the 1900’s. FAB! Partner: HI Foundation
Symphony of the Americas Symphony of the Americas Classics Events $14,000 Selected arias and duets of famous & familiar opera to be performed in Florida & the Americas features an international orchestra. FAB! Partner: Theo Folz, in honor of Connie Folz
Florida Grand Opera Rossini’s The Barber of Seville $13,000 One hour prior to each performance, Justin Moss, FGO’s Managing Director of Public Relations & External Affairs, hosts a free “Opera Preview” for all ticket holders.  The “Opera Preview” educates audiences on the history and plot of the opera and offers information on the composer and librettist. Florida International Film Festival/Cinema Paradiso FAB! Films for Kids $12,000 A free series of movies for young audiences the first Saturday of each month featuring an eclectic mix of classics, foreign, documentary and vintage animation followed by a hands on or live performance activity with the film. City Theater “15th Annual Summer Shorts: America’s Short Play Festival” $9,000 This regional event has a growing national reputation for developing original “short” one-act plays by established playwrights and important new voices in American theatre and bringing together over 100 regional and national artists. Young at Art Children’s Museum Children Just Like Me  $11,500 “Children Just Like Me” is a hands on celebratory exhibition of children from around the globe that will be presented for over 5,000 children and families. FAB! Partner: Rothstein, Rosenfeldt and Adler
Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale Edward Steichen: In High Fashion 1923-1937 $11,000 Edward Steichen was the chief photographer for Vogue and Vanity Fair Magazines from 1923 – 1937, producing an oeuvre of unequaled brilliance, dramatizing and glamorizing contemporary culture and its achievers. FAB! Partner: BankAtlantic
Arts Ballet Theater of Florida Harlequinade Ballet $10,000 Harlequinade, originally staged under the title of Les millions d’  Arlequin, was originally created by choreographer Marius Petipa and composer Riccardo Drigo for the Imperial Ballet of St. Petersburg, Russia. FAB! Partner: Peck Foundation
Coral Springs Museum of Art Plein Air Gallery $10,000 The Plein Air Gallery is to be a permanent outside installation of art on the 500 linear feet of space on the west side of the museum. The inaugural installation will be by artist Shelley Parriott and her Color Field Sculptures. The sculptures will complement the Museum’s pond reflections and surrounding landscape.
Mosaic Theater Making a Difference in 2010 $9,500 This 2010 season of one hundred performances will include a World Premier play, as well as fresh plays directly from New York, performed in a 150 seat black box theater.
Florida Youth Orchestra Spotlight Family Concert $9,000 The 150 young musicians of the Florida Youth Orchestra provide community entertainment not commonly available to all segments of the population particularly senior citizens, individuals with special needs, and low income families. Spotlight Family Concerts bring classical music to a diverse audience. FAB! Partner: Florida Marlins Community Foundation
Gold Coast Jazz Society Mainstage Jazz Concerts; Jazz Educational Concerts; In-school Performances and Free Outreach Performances $9,000 A series of classic traditional Jazz concerts featuring performers of international and national renown, as well as regional and local resident jazz musicians. Free pre-concert educational jazz talks  provided by a local jazz radio host are offered prior to each mainstage concert. FAB! Partner: Albert Bishop Jazz Fund
Fort Lauderdale Children’s Theatre Disney Princess Play Double Bill $9,000 Provides the first exposure to live theatre for hundreds of children each year. FAB! Partner: Alice and Joe Smith, in honor of Connie and Theo Folz
The Women’s Theater Project The Year of Magical Thinking/Going to See the Elephant $9,000 These are two theatrical works honoring women who overcame incredible obstacles with sheer determination, resourcefulness, instinct, and intellect.

Grant Awards $8,000 – $3,000

Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra Success Stories: Ars Flores Rising Stars Alumni Concert 10th Anniversary $8,000 To celebrate the orchestra’s 10th anniversary, concerts will feature former student musicians, Daniel Andai & Dawn Smith, who now pursue international professional careers. There will be a morning children’s performance and an evening gala concert. FAB! Partner: The Kresge Foundation
Master Chorale of South Florida Performance of Requiem by Amadeus Mozart $6,500 The acclaimed 134 member chorus accompanied by Boca Raton Symphonia will perform Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem.
The Girls Choir of South Florida Journeys and Destinations $6,100 Presentation of a concert featuring songs of human experience and travels with a highlight arrangement commissioned by the choir about Florida folksongs by a Florida composer that includes an anthem based upon the text of the oldest known poem about Florida. FAB! Partner: Erica Hartman-Horvitz and Richard Horvitz
Broward Performing Arts Foundation “Learning Through the Arts” $6,000 “Learning Through the Arts” is an integrated program that connects the arts to cognitive learning by providing reading-based, multi-cultural performances free of charge to Broward County students. FAB! Partner: Grant in memory of Alma Siegler, Mother of Jessica Olefson
Old Dillard Foundation Old Dillard Jazz Room Review $4,000 A series of mini-concerts recalls finger popping, toe tapping vibrancy of African American juke joints that were once part of the Fort Lauderdale music scene.
Fantasy Theatre Factory Children’s Cultural Enrichment and Literacy Programs $3,000 Fantasy Theatre Factory is a touring theater that will provide 50 free quality theater experiences for children and families during non-school hours in libraries, parks, recreation departments, and YMCA’s with emphasis on special needs groups

Art and Culture Center of Hollywood & Josafat Miranda In Search of Lost Time $4,700 Collaboration with Mexican artist, Josafat Miranda, to present his site specific exhibition of multi media work to be displayed at the Museum Focus South Florida Project Room which showcases emerging contemporary artists living in South Florida.
