THEATRE MATTERS

FAB’s grants promote artistic expression and create inclusive spaces. FAB SUPPORTS community-based theatre initiatives, SUSTAINS the creation and performances of high-quality theatre works, and ENCOURAGES the growth of talent in our arts theatre community.

Slow Burn Theatre is deeply grateful to Funding Arts Broward for their incredible support. Thanks to their grants, we're able to bring lesser-known titles to life, which are so important to the cultural enrichment of Broward County. Their continued belief in our mission inspires us to keep pushing creative boundaries and sharing the transformative magic of theatre.

Who FAB Serves in the Theatre Arts Community

Non-Profit Theatre Arts Organizations:

FAB funds non-profit theatre organizations that produce and present high-quality performances. This support helps these organizations support their artistic staff salaries, and other costs associated with the production of outstanding performances.

Educational Programs:

FAB funds educational initiatives that integrate theatre arts into Broward’s schools by funding organizations like Fantasy Theatre Factory (FTF). By using theatre to teach a subject, FTF introduces elementary school students to theatre with productions like “Let’s Save The Earth! Featuring the Three Mess-keteers.” Complete with lesson plans, these student enrichment programs are innovative, creative and help cultivate the next generation of artists and arts enthusiasts as well as reinforce learning.

Community Performing Arts Initiatives

We support community-based arts programs that make performing arts accessible to broader audiences, including underserved and marginalized populations. Organizations like Art Prevails Project, Island City Stage, Thou Art Woman, and more help shine a light on what is unique and special about the abundant diversity in our Broward community.

Cultural Institutions:

FAB funds cultural institutions that offer a variety of performing arts experiences. These institutions support and nurture local arts organizations as well as bring national and internationally renowned artists to our stages, ensuring a rich cultural environment for residents and visitors.

Community Members:

A FAB performing arts grant to a nonprofit organization, is a gift to our community. Through accessible and inclusive arts events and programs, FAB is helping build a strong and supportive community around the performing arts and brings the arts to the doorsteps of those that don’t have access.

FAB has been a generous supporter of the Broward Center since 2010 providing nearly $250,000 in funding to date. FAB! grants have helped the Broward Center bring some of the most important artists in the world to Broward audiences and create high quality, professional education programs for Broward County students. FAB’s deep commitment to supporting the arts in South Florida has allowed organizations like the Broward Center to inspire, engage and enrich our community knowing that having the FAB! imprimatur on a program is like having a cultural seal of approval.

New City Players is a small but growing organization. One of our funding priorities is to increase artists' wages to both increase the level of talent we have access to and honor the work being done by the many theatre artists in our region. FAB’s grant for our production of 1000 Miles supported the wages of our cast and creative team…this kind of support is essential!

Not only has FAB granted New City Players essential funds toward projects that otherwise could not be produced, but it has also introduced us to a community of people who are passionate about the arts. Several of the members have gone on to become regular patrons, donors, and major donors. We never would have met them if not for FAB.

How FAB has Impacted the Theatre Art Community

Financial Support

FAB provides crucial financial assistance to performing arts organizations, allowing them to produce high-quality performances, expand their offerings, reach into the community, and free up resources needed to sustain their operations. This funding helps cover production costs, artist fees, and other program expenses.

Giving Voice to the Underserved

FAB’s work to support the Spoken Word art form both in public performances and grades K-12 art education programs has provided an opportunity for children to learn to express themselves, and a stage for adults and children to be heard.

Program Development

By funding innovative programs and projects, FAB has enabled the creation of new and diverse artistic works. This support has led to the development of original productions, experimental theatre, and other unique performances that enrich the local cultural scene.

Stability and Growth

Over the last two decades of funding, FAB has witnessed the amazing growth in both the size and number of our local theatre companies. We are proud to have played a role in the growing the theatre art sector.
