Types of Arts Grants offered by FAB

Funding Arts Broward is dedicated to fostering a vibrant creative and innovative cultural landscape through its various art grants. Our grants support Performing Arts and Visual Arts. This includes a wide range of artistic disciplines such as Theatre Arts, Music Arts, Film, Spoken Word, Dance, and Exhibitions. FAB supports quality art education initiatives for K-12 and believes every child should have access to art programming. FAB’s arts grants ensure the arts continue to thrive and enrich the Broward County community.

Performing Arts Grants

Performing arts encompass live performances via theater productions, music, dance, spoken word, and other expressive art forms that bring stories and emotions to life on stage. Performing Arts grants support projects that engage audiences and foster cultural expression within the community.

FAB Dance Grants

Dance grants support choreography, artists salaries, performances, and other dance-related activities that contribute to cultural expression and enhancing community engagement. From classical ballet to more contemporary dance forms, FAB’s Dance Grants empower dancers, choreographers, and dance companies to bring their visions to life. FAB supports larger dance companies throughout South Florida that bring their productions to the residents and visitors of Broward County.

FAB funding has provided us the opportunity to present DANCE NOW!’s work in Broward County, after a decade hiatus, and FAB’s work has substantially developed the ecosystem of arts in Broward, serving the local communities as well as those who come to Florida to visit. Thank you for valuing our locally produced, world class arts.

FAB also supports children’s dance companies that are introducing dance to the next generation of artists and larger institutions that bring national touring companies to our performing arts centers.

FAB Music Arts Grants

Music arts encompass a wide range of arts organizations, including jazz, symphony, vocal groups, wind bands, chamber ensembles, and more that perform live in our community. Music brings people together — in celebration, in learning, and in trying times. Music arts grants bolster Broward County’s cultural and community development.

FAB believes in supporting the entire musical ecosystem in Broward by supporting the growth of new artists in our schools, the amazing local groups (both small and large), the smaller groups that serve our diverse community, and bringing national touring groups and artists to our community.

Funding Arts Broward's support has empowered Master Chorale to broaden our artistic horizons and extend our reach. We're able to take on more ambitious classical masterworks, continue offering free family concerts, and introducing live choral music to new audiences. FAB’s support demonstrates a deep understanding of how arts impact lives, enabling us to share our passion widely and build community through music.

FAB has played a crucial role in the growth of Island City Stage. Their exceptional support for arts organizations in Broward County has been truly outstanding. I am grateful to be associated with this amazing organization as both a member and representative of a supported organization.

FAB Theatre Arts Grants and Spoken Word Arts Grants

FAB’s grants support local theatre groups and the performing arts institutions that help bring national touring groups to our community and showcase our larger local theater groups. We also support our local black box theatre groups that often reach specific demographic populations.

Theatre programs for children are also supported by FAB to encourage a child’s development and self-confidence.

FAB Visual Arts Grants

Visual arts include painting, drawing, sculpture, art installations, photography, public art, and other forms of art that are appreciated visually. These art forms play an important role in our society and culture, evoking emotion, creating a sense of place in our diverse communities, and infusing our lives with beauty and history.

FAB supports the arts organizations that bring these art forms to our community. FAB also supports our growing film industry by supporting organizations that bring us film festivals that highlight international, national and local talent.

“Since its founding in 2004, FAB has been a treasured and necessary advocate of the arts in Broward County generating a spirit of collectivism for the Art and Culture Center/Hollywood and the arts community that share our goal to enrich the lives of people from all walks of life through the arts.

“The Center has been a proud recipient of program grants from FAB since the beginning and as FAB has grown its impact these past two decades, so, too, has the Center. FAB funding and its investment in our contemporary visual arts exhibitions have elevated South Florida artists and supported our mission to cultivate creativity and the support of the arts in our community through education, innovation and collaboration.”

FAB supports new creative artforms that light up our community at night with its new “FAB Goes Public” initiative demonstrating the intersection of art and technology that launched in January 2025.

With FAB funding we can reach so many more children and families in Broward County than would be possible without FAB. FAB allows us to serve the most underserved people in Broward County with programs that come directly to them in their neighborhoods. For many children in Broward County, Fantasy Theatre Factory is their first exposure to theatre, and FAB funding allows it to happen.

When a child is exposed to the magic of theatre for the first time, when we see that spark of excitement and the formation of new love for theatre happening in real time, that’s thanks to FAB – they provide us the means to create that experience for that child. That’s the true power and impact of FAB.

FAB Arts Education Grants

The arts play a vital role in the education of children. The use of art in teaching helps engage children and promote learning. Quality artistic skill training has been proven to improve a child’s english and math test scores.

In March of 2021, FAB expanded its grant categories to include Arts Education to help expand Broward’s arts ecosystem and reach K-12 children, with an emphasis on reaching the children least likely to have the opportunity to experience the various art forms.
