Over 100 FAB members and guests enjoyed appetizers and wine under the elegant chandeliers adorning The Parker’s reception lobby as we celebrated another record grant pool of $405,000 and the many accomplishments of 2024.
Speakers included, Mary Riedel, FAB President; Ty Sutton, President/CEO, Broward Center for the Performing Arts; Jodi Jeffries-Tanner; FAB Board Member; Carolyn Lee, FAB Past President; and Miguel Gonzalez, Creator of “Muses” the new Public Art debuting on The Parker that evening. “Muses” was inspired by the statues at the entrance of the Parker and was funded as part of the FAB Goes Public initiative where art meets technology.
FAB Members and guests stepped into the visionary world of Leonardo da Vinci like never before at the “Da Vinci” exhibit at South Florida PBS studios in Boynton Beach. We were transported back to Renaissance Italy through groundbreaking immersive technology that brings da Vinci’s masterpieces, inventions, and incredible mind to vivid life.
Through 12 visual chapters, the interactive immersive display spoke to Leonardo da Vinci’s unveiled brilliance, unwavering curiosity, and artistic majesty. After the tour, FAB members and guests were treated to an intimate private lunch on the set of South Florida’s popular “Check Please” restaurant review program hosted by Michelle Berstein.
FAB Members were treated to an intimate guided tour, highlighting the works of renowned Baroque painters such as Diego Velázquez, Francisco de Zurbarán, and Bartolomé Esteban Murillo. The guide delved into the historical and cultural contexts of the artworks, revealing fascinating stories behind each piece, and spoke to the unique characteristics of Baroque art, including its use of light and shadow, realistic details, and dramatic intensity. FAB members left with a deeper appreciation for the religious and mythological themes that dominated this period of Spain’s history.
On January 8, 2025, FAB went Public, and presented a dynamic outdoor art light projection by local artist Rosanna Kalis. Be first to view this original artwork light up the west-facing wall of the Parker Theater, transforming it into a canvas of stunning creativity and inspiration.
We extend a special thank you to our collaborators, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts’ the Parker, Marc Aptakin, and Mad Arts Museum in Dania Beach, the generous supporters of FAB’s “Be the Spark” Campaign, and to Jodi Peck and Les Weil for hosting the evening’s event.
FAB kicks off the season by sharing the findings of a yearlong study undertaken by the New Initiatives Task Force. Click HERE to read the report and FAB’s initiatives to address the GAPS.
