May 8, 2025, Grant Awards Ceremony, The Bonnet House Museum and Gardens

Over 150 guests and grantees gathered at the historic Bonnet House Museum and Gardens for FAB’s Annual Grant Awards Ceremony. During the event, Funding Arts Broward awarded $405,000 to support 56 performance, visual, and arts education programs across Broward County. In addition, 40 Broward arts organizations received funding for talented productions, made possible through the generous contributions of FAB members, Spark donors, and FAB’s corporate partners. The evening featured inspiring performances by Hued Songs, Volta Music Foundation, Florida Children’s Theatre, Japan Arts, and Brazilian Voices, highlighting the diverse cultural landscape of the region. This celebration not only recognized the incredible work of local artists and organizations but also reinforced FAB’s ongoing commitment to fostering arts and cultural vibrancy throughout Broward County. March 11, 2025, FAB’s Annual Meeting, The Parker

Over 100 FAB members and guests enjoyed appetizers and wine under the elegant chandeliers adorning The Parker’s reception lobby as we celebrated another record grant pool of $405,000 and the many accomplishments of 2024. 

Speakers included, Mary Riedel, FAB President; Ty Sutton, President/CEO, Broward Center for the Performing Arts; Jodi Jeffries-Tanner; FAB Board Member; Carolyn Lee, FAB Past President; and Miguel Gonzalez, Creator of “Muses” the new Public Art debuting on The Parker that evening.  “Muses” was inspired by the statues at the entrance of the Parker and was funded as part of the FAB Goes Public initiative where art meets technology.

February 28, 2025, Da Vinci | An Immersive Art Experience, South Florida PBS Studios

FAB Members and guests stepped into the visionary world of Leonardo da Vinci like never before at the “Da Vinci” exhibit at South Florida PBS studios in Boynton Beach. We were transported back to Renaissance Italy through groundbreaking immersive technology that brings da Vinci’s masterpieces, inventions, and incredible mind to vivid life.

Through 12 visual chapters, the interactive immersive display spoke to Leonardo da Vinci’s unveiled brilliance, unwavering curiosity, and artistic majesty. After the tour, FAB members and guests were treated to an intimate private lunch on the set of South Florida’s popular “Check Please” restaurant review program hosted by Michelle Berstein.

February 12, 2025, Splendor and Passion: Baroque Spain and it’s Empire, Boca Raton Museum of Art

FAB Members were treated to an intimate guided tour, highlighting the works of renowned Baroque painters such as Diego Velázquez, Francisco de Zurbarán, and Bartolomé Esteban Murillo. The guide delved into the historical and cultural contexts of the artworks, revealing fascinating stories behind each piece, and spoke to the unique characteristics of Baroque art, including its use of light and shadow, realistic details, and dramatic intensity. FAB members left with a deeper appreciation for the religious and mythological themes that dominated this period of Spain’s history.

January 8, 2025, FAB Goes Public, The Parker

On January 8, 2025, FAB went Public, and presented a dynamic outdoor art light projection by local artist Rosanna Kalis. Be first to view this original artwork light up the west-facing wall of the Parker Theater, transforming it into a canvas of stunning creativity and inspiration.
We extend a special thank you to our collaborators, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts’ the Parker, Marc Aptakin, and Mad Arts Museum in Dania Beach, the generous supporters of FAB’s “Be the Spark” Campaign, and to Jodi Peck and Les Weil for hosting the evening’s event.

May 9, 2024, FAB Annual Grant Awards Ceremony and Reception, AARLCC

On May 9, 2024, FAB members and donors, and leaders in the arts community gathered to honor 45 arts organizations that received $400,000 in grants from Funding Arts Broward at the African American Research Library and Culture Center in Fort Lauderdale. Reception music was provided by FAB grantee, South Florida Pride Band. Dr. Tameka Bradley-Hobbs, Regional Manager of the Library, welcomed attendees, and Darius Daughtry, Founder and Artistic Director, Art Prevails Project (a FAB Grantee) gave a moving performance of his original poem “Art”.

March 14, 2024, FAB Annual Meeting, YMCA Sistrunk

On March 14, 2024, FAB held its annual meeting at the new L A Lee YMCA/Mizell Community Center’s Black Box Theatre in Fort Lauderdale. Guest speaker, Special Agent Robert Giczy, FBI Crime Team member, introduced attendees to an overview of the FBI’s role in art investigations and for the working life of a federal investigator. FAB President Mary Riedel spoke about the impact FAB had on the arts community during our 2023-24 calendar year, and next steps for FAB.

January 29, 2024, FAB Founders Luncheon, TheTower Club Fort Lauderdale

On January 29, 2024, FAB hosted a Founding Member Luncheon at the Tower Club in Fort Lauderdale. Twenty-five Founding members reconnected, shared stories with current Board members and heard about the new initiatives FAB is undertaking to support the arts. Speakers included Mary Riedel, FAB President, Nancy Bryant and Cindy Eden, “Be the SPARK! Campaign co-chairs, and our Founder Francie Bishop Good.

January 16, 2024, 2024 FAB Goes Hollywood The Savor Cinema

On January 16, 2024, FAB members and guests were treated to a wonderful array of three short films at the charming 200+ seat Savor Cinema. The art house theater is operated by the Broward County Film Society, the same organization that brings the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival (FLIFF) to us each year. Speakers included Phil Dunlap, Director, Broward County Cultural Division, and Gregory von Hausch, CEO & President, FLIFF.

October 18, 2022, FAB’s 20th Anniversary Celebration, The Broward Center

On October 18, 2022, FAB celebrated its 20th year of grant-making to arts organizations. Filling the Mary Porter Ballroom at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts (BCPA), we welcomed special guests Kelley Shanley, BCPA CEO/President; Darius Daughtry, Founder of The Art Prevails Project, who served as the emcee; a performance by The Fort Lauderdale Children’s Theatre and entertainment by The Gold Coast Jazz Society. The evening program ended with a special video tribute to Francie Bishop Good and FAB Founding members.
