Bellisima: Italy and High Fashion 1945-68 from Maxxi Rome

“Bellissima” presents over 230 vintage garments and accessories by Valentino, Ferragamo, Pucci, et al, alongside paintings and film representing the remarkable period of creativity in postwar Italy. Financed by the Marshall Plan, Italian designers forged a chic and comfortable couture for the new, emancipated woman.

The South Florida Symphony’s Maestra Sebrina Alfonso brings together a distinguished ensemble to present Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Guest soloist Eileen Strempel and the Master Chorale of South Florida explore the emotion of joy and its origins through Beethoven’s distinctive “Freude” melody that itself is based on Schiller’s “Ode to Joy”.
